Get to Know Us ...
A beacon of light throughout South Philadelphia since 1967
Our Mission since our inception has been to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ - His Life, Death, Burial and Resurrection - while perfecting the body of Christ by pastoring and teaching Kingdom principles, yet while the Holy Spirit prepares us for a spiritual transition that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has it entered into the heart what and how God will do it. Our hearts rejoice to even see that day. Peace unto you.
The Fall of Man
We believe the disobedience of Adam corrupted the entire human race, causing people to be born and shaped in iniquity. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"(Romans 3:23). Through Adam, all people inherited sin’s nature and consequences, and all are in need of a redeemer.
Salvation Through Grace
We believe that salvation is God’s grace that is accessed through faith in Jesus Christ. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God" (Romans 2:8). Salvation cannot be earned by simply doing good deeds or being good, we are justified by his grace through the redemption of Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24).
We believe that a person must repent of their sins. To repent means to be sorry for sins and to turn away from a sinful lifestyle to holiness. Repentance begins with a godly sorrow. "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation .." (II Corinthians 7:10). "Godly sorrow," produced by Divine power, leads to God. For when godly sorrow is wrought in the heart by God it is the means to recovery to Him, for it makes us conscious of our separation from God and of our having dishonored and displeased Him. "A broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise" (Psalm 51:17). Such sorrowing to repentance is approved by God, for it is the product of His own grace and accomplishes its end by restoring to Him.
We believe a person must be born again. Jesus told a ruler of the Jews, "except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God" (St. John 3:5). The water baptism is symbolic to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When a person repents of their sins we are commanded to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). The baptism of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) is the promise of the Father and gift from God; it is not given to us by man. "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost" (Acts 1:5). A person who receives the Holy Ghost is endued with power and become a witness of God's saving grace (Acts 1:8).
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son God. Many bible passages prove this very statement. In one familiar passage Jesus asked his disciples, "... whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And Simon Peter answered and said Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven" (St. Matthew 16:13-17). The divine revelation of who Jesus is came from the heavenly Father, it was not revealed by human teaching. People called Jesus many names: prophet, John the Baptist, Elias, and Jeremias, but the disciples believe him to be the Son of the living God. Christ showed himself well pleased with the Peter’s confession and tells him where he received the knowledge of this truth.
